This position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor in coordination of the daily responsibilities of the department by insuring the Supervisor s instructions are communicated to the team members and carried out timely and correctly. This position will also monitor all equipment to insure it is working properly and notify the supervisor of any needed maintenance while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.


This position assists the Line Supervisor in the daily operations of the department. Lead must be able to perform all positions within the department. The lead sets up the department with tools and materials prior to the start of shift. Lead assists with general appearance of the work area including wash down during breaks and at the end of the shift. Lead must have knowledge of proper crewing levels and how to maintain staffing. Lead attends to USDA and production issues in the absence of the Supervisor. The lead gives breaks for the line personnel and fills in for absenteeism as needed. Lead must be willing to alert supervisor and management when problems arise and must be able to communicate properly with USDA. Must be willing to push pull carry lift 40+ pounds. Must be willing to work in damp cold or damp hot environments, use of hands and arms above shoulder level and be able stand 8-10 hours a day. Must be willing to climb up and down stairs to get to from the work areas. Must wear PPE, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net and beard guard.


Position will be for 2nd shift (nights). This facility may run 6 days a week, Monday-Saturday. Must be able to understand and agree to follow Safety Rules. Must be willing to maneuver freely throughout the plant. Must be willing to stand and walk 100% of the shift. Must be willing to use knives and scissors as required. Must be willing to use both hands and arms. Must be willing to perform bending, twisting, turning, stooping, and reaching. Must have good communication skills. Must be able to read, write, and have basic knowledge of math.
