    Title:Registered Nurse

    Job Summary:

    Vighter LLC is recruiting Registered Nurses to support state healthcare facilities throughout Texas. Registered Nurses may serve in temporary, short-term, and long-term positions depending on the needs of the client. Vighter receives requests for nurses periodically under client contract as the need arises. When Vighter receives a request, our recruiters contact candidates in our database to confirm availability, willingness, and interest in the position. Candidate resumes are then sent to the client for review and interview scheduling. Registered Nurses must apply in order to be considered for this position.

    Principle Accountabilities:

  • Performs routine nursing duties.

  • Work involves providing for the assessment, care and treatment of individuals. May train others.

  • Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May assign nursing responsibilities to LVNs in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.

  • Provide for and supervise the professional nursing care of patients.

  • Be available to unit personnel to make nursing decisions on a 24-hour basis.

  • She/he is a member of the professional team and shares responsibility with other team members for the development of the individual’s program.

  • Work involves communication skills, i.e. relaying information to other team members, Primary Care

  • Provider (PCP), nurses; data entry, documentation, completing reports, maintaining personnel records, supervisory duties, and following all facility rules/policies.

  • Provides treatment to HHS employees injured in course and scope of employment.

  • Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

  • Administers medications, immunizations, and treatment and observes individuals for unusual symptoms and reactions.

  • Conducts physical assessments of individual health needs and implements appropriate action.

  • Implements and monitors case management service plans.

  • Instructs and assists individuals in meeting their health care needs.

  • Prepares, maintains, and reviews individual records and individual assessments. May participate in quality assurance reviews.

  • Complies with all State/Federal/Local standards; Facility Policy, ICF Standards, and Texas Nurse Practice Act.

  • Manages an individual's medical record (paper chart/EHR).

  • Provides treatment to HHS employees injured in course and scope of employment.

  • Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

    Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of full-time experience providing services as an independently licensed registered nurse in an in-patient environment

    Employee Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day

  • Must be willing to work overtime if necessary

  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet

  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders

  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print

  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear

  • Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation

  • Must undergo urine drug testing

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must be licensed RN and able to practice in Texas

  • Preferably 2+ years as a direct care nurse

  • Charge nurse or supervisory experience is preferred

  • Experience needs to be hospital acute care, LTC , community clinics, public health, etc. (not Home Health or School Nurse)

  • Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, Employee Misconduct, and HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals / Entities.

  • All state supported living center employees are subject to random drug testing.

  • Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position.

  • The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.

  • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment at a state-operated facility.

    Other Qualifications:

  • Shall be a United States Citizen

  • Shall not have been convicted of a felony

  • Shall be able to read, write, and speak English

  • Shall be able to operate a personal computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Explorer, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. so as to efficiently create and/or utilize an Electronic Medical Record
