Amergis $27 / hr | Certified Medication Aide in Tecumseh, Nebraska

Performs duties as delegated by a licensed nurse. Administers medications to patients asdirected and documents the administration to the patient's medical record. Mayassist with general clerical duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers and accurately records the administration ofmedications for patients as prescribed by the physician. This includes liquid medications, eye dropsand ointments, ear drops, and topical medications

  • Obtains, records and reports patient vital signs as indicateduring the administration of medications

  • Observes records and reports any symptoms and conditions ofthe patients' that could be related to medication reactions, adverse drugreactions or medication side effects

  • Seeks clarification on any medication orders that areunclear, unusual or incomplete

  • Stores medications in a safe and accurate manner inaccordance with the policies and procedures of the facility/client

  • Adheres to all federal/state regulations regarding the safestorage and handling of medications

  • Maintains complete and accurate medical records incompliance with the rules and regulation of all regulatory agencies

  • Routinely inspects, cleans and monitors equipment andsupplies to ensure patient safety

  • Reports all equipment or supply issues to the appropriatesite supervisor

  • Demonstrates awareness of proper infection control practiceby using universal precautions

  • Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies andprocedures

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Valid CMA state certification or license if required bystate/contract

  • One (1) one year experience as a medication aide preferred

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
