Reporting directly to the VP of IT Center of Expertise, this role will help build out the Advanced Analytics and Automation capabilities for Tyson including Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, gathering data from IOT, sensor technologies and drones, and RPA/chatbots. This team's charter it to unlock the value of Tyson's data assets and turn this into actionable insights for breakthrough performance.

This organization's capabilities must include:

  • Data Strategy- this organization should be leading the way on how best to leverage Tyson and external data with an eye for quality, trust, speed and reusability.

  • Data Science - this organization should bring the best statistical models in a champion/challenger model to create a different dialogue around Tyson's biggest challenges. This team should be deeply versed in the latest IOT and sensor technologies and leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence for predictive and prescriptive insights.

  • RPA/chatbots - this organization should apply robotics processing and new ways to interact through RPA/chatbots.

  • Advocacy and education - this organization should find ways to share and educate on Tyson's data assets with the goal of maturing the way Tyson talks about data as well as create a citizen data analyst role within the business and IT.

  • Curiosity beyond limits should be ingrained in the full team where this team is constantly seeking new opportunities for Tyson to win in the marketplace through data and insights. This is the team that would need to keep the tension around exploration and execution.


  • To qualify, the candidate should have a successful track-record doing the role described above with experience in building technology capabilities at a rapid pace with success being measured by how quickly others can implement to get value.

  • 10+ years of experience working in a large, global organization developing and managing technology based programs. Experience working with geographically dispersed teams & customer base is desirable.

  • 2-3 implementation experiences with emerging/evolving application technologies for data science, data wrangling, machine learning, artificial intelligence OR RPA/chatbots. Implementations should include some with Open Source technologies, Tensorflow, Python, R, Python and Pandas Dataframes (Spark and or and Spark Dataframes) OR BluePrism for RPA.

  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand the best practices for implementing in multiple cloud environments, prevailing security standards and fit for purpose API strategies. A working understanding of a variety of data structures, RDBMS best practices, structured, semi-structured (JSON, XML) and unstructured data is required.

  • Ability to lead others through ambiguity and change. The right candidate would be able to see the possibilities and help others see it as well.

  • Excellent communication, relationship and interpersonal skills with the ability to \"tell the story\" of the data and insight. This includes a strong ability to communicate with IT users and business leaders to understand requirements,expectations and value measures.

  • Experience working closely with senior executives, understanding priorities, what information is needed to support decisions and confident in delivering presentations and advisement to senior leaders

  • Ability to work across a complex organization to create needed alignment and harness relationships and sphere of influence

  • This role must be a relationship builder that spans across external businesses, academic institutions and outside subject matter experts. They must explore new possibilities and technologies currently outside of business
