Tyson Foods Associate Director Accounting in Springdale, Arkansas
SUMMARY: As part of Corporate Accounting, this position will be responsible for supporting Mergers & Acquisition work. Primary responsibilities will include supporting a cross-functional team to execute a wide range of mission-critical and strategic M&A transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and minority investments. Additionally, this position may be responsible for managing other special accounting projects and analysis, as needed, as well as assisting in the company's evaluation of current and new accounting standards. Additionally, this position works with accounting, information systems and business units in the design, development and testing of new SAP functionality. The candidate must rely upon experience and judgment to plan and accomplish projects in a timely manner, including the ability to work under tight deadlines. The candidate must have excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills as well as GAAP and SEC reporting knowledge. Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential to this position in order for the candidate to work with various departments and peers across the business and with various third parties. Building and maintaining effective working relationships with various levels in the organization and being a champion of Tyson’s mission, core values, and team behaviors (the 5 Cs) are critical.
Education: Requires broad knowledge in general professional or technical field. Also requires a Bachelor's degree in an academic field directly related and essential to this position (Accounting or Finance degree preferred).
Experience: 9+ years of experience both in private or public accounting preferred.
Computer Skills: Requires advanced computer skills; must have working ability with Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word and Outlook and ability to perform technical research using various research tools; some working knowledge of SAP preferred.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills are essential to work with all levels of management, peers and subordinates.
Special Skills: Significant in-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and transactional accounting processes are required. CPA designation preferred; must also have excellent analytical skills and good leadership skills. Project management skills are preferred.
Supervisory: No direct reports but must work in a TEAM with a wide variety of groups to accomplish responsibilities.
Travel: 4 + domestic trips per year; possibility of international travel
