During probationary period, position will work M-F, 8:00 am-4:00 pm. After probationary period, position may be required to work M-F, 4 pm-12 am during the Fall/Spring semesters and M-F, 8:00 am-4:00 pm during the summer.

Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Refrigeration: Installation, diagnose problems, repair and replace of all parts and airconditioning such as centrifugals, precipitators and steam absorption. Perform preventative winter maintenance for spring startup such as pressurizaing systems, removal of oil and filters, inspect and clean tube bundles, oil and grease all water and chemical pumps, check for coupling alignments and check for belts on water towers. work with window and small central units, walk in coolers, ice machines, water coolers and envrironmental or controlled chambers. help diagnose and instruct other HVAC mechanics.

Pneumatic controls design systems, diagnose problems, install and rebuild parts calibrate existing controls.

Heating: Take heating calls, diagnose problems, make repairs on controls, electrical problems, drain and pressureize expansion tanks, fix and replace heat exchangers, repair air compressors if needed and air dryers which are the air supply for the pneumatic controls. Repairsare handling damper motors and temperature controlers.

Electrical: Wiring of controls, switches and pumps, diagnose problems with the chiller controls, megging chiller motors and re-build magnetic controllers and relays.

Leads the work of others in performing refrigeration related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

· Two years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, units, and equipment.

or

· Completion of a three year, high school vo-Tech training program in refrigeration, HVAC , or building automation and six months experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, related digitally controlled equipment, or building automation systems;

or

· An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :

· All employees must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment.

· Certain positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Preferred Qualifications

Universal EPA 608 License

Associates Degree in HVAC

Experience working with diverse populations preferred.
