POSITION PURPOSE:

The Marine Technician II is responsible maintaining the skills necessary to perform the below duties. Perform all duties of lower grade technicians.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to perform all skills & duties of lower technician grade levels.

  • Perform all routine repairs and preventative maintenance of outboard motors, boats and boat trailers.

  • Perform limited trouble shooting, diagnosing, overhauling & repairing of Johnson & Evinrude power heads, fuel systems, trim/tilt systems, ignition & electrical systems, and lower units.

  • Perform rigging & repairs to mechanical & hydraulic steering systems.

  • Perform complete boat engine rigging, fuel systems, electrical systems, and ignition systems.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform limited Johnson & Evinrude warranty work.

  • Perform inflatable repairs, valve replacement, patching, hardware installation.

  • Assist in hazardous materials & waste maintenance and management.

  • Perform installation & limited repairs of various boat accessories: bilges, wash down pumps, lighting, depth finders; navigational systems: compass, radar & GPS systems.

  • Assist in ensuring project personnel to operate vehicles, boats, tractors, trailers & high- pressure sprayer correctly and safely.

  • Perform trouble-shooting repairs of support small gasoline powered equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Johnson/Evinrude Advanced Servicing Certified (OB2)

  • Mercury Outboard Technician Certified

  • 5 years of Johnson/Evinrude Outboard service experience.

  • 5 years of Mercury Marine Outboard service experience

  • 3 years of experience with inflatable boat repair/service

  • 5 years of experience with maintaining and rigging commercial/gov't utility boats.

  • 12v electrical systems

  • Familiar with hydraulic & mechanical steering systems

  • Boat rigging: controls, instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, and fuel systems.

Skills and Abilities:

  • 12v marine electrical system understanding.

  • Hydraulic & mechanical steering systems comprehension.

  • Boat rigging: controls, instrumentation, electrical and fuel systems.

  • Launching and Recovering Boats on Trailers

  • Operating Compact Tractors Manual and Automatic

Special Requirements:

DBIDS Military Badging, NIWC Badging

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to obtain certifications for forklift operations, Boat Coxswain & CAT 3 Floor Crane from NAVY.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Climbing into, around and inside boats. Working inside bilge hatches, consoles, under boats while on trailers. Climbing ladders to piers, walking along docks and periodic trouble calls on the water.
