Aston Carter Accountant in Richmond, Virginia

Seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our client's finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the year-end close process, performing account reconciliations, handling accruals, and leading a goodwill amortization project for our insurance agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Year-End Close: Oversee and execute the year-end close process, ensuring all financial activities are accurately recorded and reported in compliance with GAAP.

• Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including bank statements, to maintain accurate financial records.

• Accruals: Manage the recording of accruals for expenses and revenues, ensuring timely and accurate reflection in financial statements.

• Goodwill Amortization Project: Lead a project to amortize goodwill for our insurance agencies, which includes analyzing the value of acquired entities and preparing amortization schedules.

• Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

• Compliance: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and company policies.

• Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance

  • ASC 842 experience required

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements

  • Large ERP experience

  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred
