Reporting to the Operations Manager, the General Laborer is an entry-level position providing support to multiple departments by performing physical labor tasks such as assisting and/or operating paper mill equipment, including a variety of material handling and lift equipment and tools. He or she will also be responsible for obtaining supplies for Operators and performing general clean up around paper machines. Competitive pay starting at \$24/hr. The Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities this role include: -Must follow Ahlstrom\'s manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable to the position\'s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper. -Assist Equipment Operators as required with the ability to learn the next level job. -Haul and hoist materials using powered industrial trucks and cranes; load and unload material from machines. -Assist with quality inspections. -Basic data entry into the applicable computer systems. -Maintain a clean job site by cleaning up around papermaking and paper converting equipment, picking up all tools and equipment each day in order to eliminate potential hazards. -Participate in safety improvements throughout the facility; these include improving existing procedures, improving guarding, etc. -Apply safety standards/safety absolutes on a continuous basis. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Occupational Requirements: -Production or manufacturing experience, preferred -Previous military or farm experience a plus -Previous shift work experience preferred (our facility is on a weekly rotating day/night shift schedule) -Good mechanical aptitude -Must have a high regard for safety and teamwork -Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights; the paper mill is a 24/7 manufacturing operation utilizing a rotating schedule; Overtime is required Physical Occupational Requirements: -Work in a hot and humid environment -Push and pull up to 100 pounds of force at waist height -Crawl/Crouch under 40\" for up to 8 feet -Lift from floor and carry up to 50 pounds for at least 15 feet -Kneel or squat for 30 or more seconds -Hold 10 pounds at arm\'s length with shoulders at 90 degrees -Walk up to 1000 feet continuously -Climb 30 stairs -Climb up to 21 steps on a vertical ladder ***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Online: https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcareer5.successfactors.eu%2Fsfcareer%2Fjobreqcareer%3FjobId%3D4244%26company%3DAhlstrom&data=05%7C02%7Cmaineng.vang%40ahlstrom.com%7C4
