Providence St. Joseph Health Executive Director - Talent and Organizational Effectiveness in Renton, Washington

Description The executive director of talent strategy and effectiveness will play a critical role in shaping and executing our innovative vision, strategy, solutions, and insights for identifying caregiver potential, maximizing leadership performance, and placing talent across all levels of our organization, enabling Providence's aspiration of becoming the best place to work and ensuring every caregiver reaches their full potential in alignment with their calling. Reporting to the Group Vice President of People Strategy and Solutions, you will partner closely with senior business and HR leadership to design, align, and implement talent strategy and effectiveness practices with Providence's overall business objectives, ensuring a high-performing and inclusive culture, and driving engagement, growth, and retention through building robust, diverse leadership and pipelines. You will manage a team of talent professionals with accountability for leadership, team, and caregiver effectiveness, inclusive of talent management, performance management, assessments & interventions, and executive coaching. Additionally, you and your team will be responsible for defining what makes an exceptional leader and drives business results and partnering with key stakeholders within and beyond HR to grow talent and enhance internal mobility through intentional development experiences. The ideal candidate will have a unique combination of innovative and strategic thinking, leadership expertise, collaboration, executive influencing skills, consulting experience, operational excellence, and business experience. Success in this role will be dependent on the ability to connect data-driven insights with business outcomes, strategies, and solutions to collaboratively drive impact at scale. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of translating complex or ambiguous concepts into clear strategies with strong stakeholder commitment and buy-in across large, complex organizations. The position requires a high level of collaboration, relationship building, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive tangible business impact in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role will be hybrid with the option to live in Seattle, Portland, or Irvine (preferably Seattle area). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Partner with key stakeholders within HR and across the organization to design, develop, and deliver the system-level talent strategy that supports our near and longer-term business objectives, advances our people strategy, reflects our Mission, vision, and values, and ensures that our vision is translated into practical solutions that drive tangible results. Design and implement talent effectiveness programs that enable talent identification, development, performance management, and placement for executives, leaders, and caregivers. Work in partnership with key stakeholders such as Mission, Learning & Development, Executive Services, and Field HR. Accountable for the Executive Talent Management portfolio of accelerated development programs which targets executive, senior leader, and high-potential talent. Portfolio programs may include, but not be limited to executive coaching, executive leadership assessments, mentoring and sponsorship, job rotations, high potential development programs, executive external education, etc. Develop and integrate a system-wide leadership competency model alongside skill-based strategies as a foundation for our talent strategies and solutions in partnership with our learning and development team. Partner with CHROs, Workforce Insights, and our IS teams to develop and implement a talent data strategy and roadmap, ensuring a simple and aligned user experience and supporting technology ecosystem.
