JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Sales Account Manager

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Director, Sales

SUMMARY

Takes new awards through KBPD to successful launch. Maintains and improves customer relations so that existing business is defended to generate on-going relationships. Involved in; Identification, evaluation, analysis and development of customer contacts and product needs. Maintains continuing relationship with customers and internal SPI personnel/ disciplines; Negotiates program development, pricing, and timing; Assists in developing and implementing strategies; Collects, analyzes and reports on techniques and strategies of competitive companies; Recommends counter-strategies; compiles data and reports on forecasted sales. Executes Summit's Customer and product strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Under general supervision is responsible for the following major tasks:

Develops and maintains customer and potential customer contacts through scheduled visits. Using Account Development Strategies (ADS) to maintain overviews and plan activities to increase current business (defense - incremental increases). Causes development of quotations from concept through production. Negotiates with customers and potential customers to assure understanding with regard to price, quality, quantity, delivery and payment schedules (PO's). Handles, resolves, collects product piece price amendments (3PA) and sales orders (S.O.'s) working with Engineering and Manufacturing. Works with Manufacturing and Engineering to follow-up on debits, charge backs, and other commercial issues that can affect profitability. Evaluates customer product needs and coordinates prototype development; advises customers of advantages, savings, quality, etc.; provides cost estimates, samples and sales agreements. Observes, records, analyzes, reports and recommends strategies to counter strategy of competitors. Schedules and conducts Technical Center and SPI plant tours for current and potential customers. Works with Manufacturing and Engineering to promote new sales. Maintains close communications with Sales Director/Vice President, Sales and Marketing to assure sales contacts, closings, forecasts and changes are incorporated into sales and company plans. (ADS) Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A BS in engineering is preferred or a BA or BBA with 1-3 years automotive product manufacturing experience (plastic preferred). Three plus years of direct marketing and sales experience in the design and manufacture of automotive components (experience with plastics preferred).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Possesses the ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices. A minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position typically does require up to 25% travel.
