Position:Residential Advisor

Department:Eliza Shirley House

Availability of Position:Immediate

Schedule:Part Time Plus - up to 29 hours weekly

Reporting Relationship:Reports to Operations Manager.

Salary/Grade:$15.71 per hour; 75, Non-Exempt

    About the Eliza Shirley House:The Salvation Army Eliza Shirley House is a safe and welcoming emergency housing program offering loving, respectful, compassionate, and non-judgmental services to empower residents to strive towards self-sufficiency. All family configurations, including families with teenaged children, and single men with children are accepted. Primarily, we serve young mothers with infants and single mothers with school aged children.

Responsibilities

Description of Position:The Residential Advisor is responsible for upholding the safety and welfare of shelter residents. The Residential Advisor answers the telephones, takes messages for staff and residents, greets visitors, and assists residents with their needs and concerns. A Residential Advisor also ensures that only authorized persons are admitted to the facility and makes regular rounds of the building to ensure an orderly and safe environment.

Qualifications

Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, prior residential or customer service work experience, must be able to read, write and speak well in English, must have computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel Programs and be proficient in and the ability to utilize the internet. CPR and Crisis Management Training, a plus. Must have an understanding of, and appreciation for, the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Sanctuary Model.
