Conagra Associate Food Scientist in Omaha, Nebraska

We are looking for an Associate Food Scientist to join our team in Omaha, Nebraska!

This is a great opportunity to begin or expand your career as a Food Scientist. As an Associate Food Scientist, reporting to the R&D Manager on our Frozen Meals team, you will work on innovation and cost savings product development for our frozen brands including Marie Callender’s and Kid Cuisine. You will draw upon your education and experience in food development/design to renovate or develop new products, evaluate our products and processes to maintain quality, and manage project timelines. In this highly collaborative role, you will work with our network of experts to maximize value and performance and work on innovation to drive growth.

Located along the Missouri River, our Omaha office is within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. Join us for yoga or strength training classes offered at the onsite fitness center. Conagra's R&D facilities in Omaha are state of the art, including a large super lab, open benchtop space for prototype development, a top-of-the-line culinary kitchen, and a 50,000 square foot pilot plant.

What you'll do in this role:

  • Develop new products beginning at the concept phase through successful commercialization

  • Design and conduct plant trials and new product start-ups

  • Creates product development schedules that are required to meet project timelines

  • Work with pilot plant equipment.

  • Learn and utilize online specification system

  • Design and execute experiments and prepare results for review

  • Conceptualize and develop new products prototypes

  • Drive product cuttings, plant trials, and testing

What you'll need to be successful:

  • BS in Food Science or related field.

  • Approximately 1+ year relevant industry experience inclusive of internships

  • Requires knowledge in food product design, formulation, ingredient functionality and interaction, process design, product scale-up, plant testing and commercialization

  • Good understanding of food industry standards of quality and foods safety, and FDA regulations

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

  • Demonstrate ability to communicate well and to effectively influence and interact with others to accomplish research goals

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software

Physical Exposures:

  • Work in and around cramped/confined spaces

  • Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended workdays to include loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions.

  • Use of tools, equipment, and machinery

  • May travel up to 30% of time. Must be able to travel independently and as a responsible Conagra Brands representative.

  • Exposure to food tasting and smells including all food allergens

We require applicants for this role to be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship either now or in the future.

This position is usually in the office Monday - Friday (with some remote flexibility those days).
