ZF North America, Inc. Engineer III - Resident in Northville, Michigan

Job Duties: Responsible to provide on-site engineering support at customer site(s) for product launch/development initiatives of ZF products in customer engineering projects; Serve as technical liaison to customer for engineering applications (e.g., support communication; support projects and product launch/development activities; provide technical clarification/explanation of ZF product specifications and component functions; support reports/data for customer presentations); Coordinate with internal teams/departments (e.g., communicate customer needs/requirements; provide engineering direction to designers; work with engineering teams inclu. project management, design, control and planning departments) and departments within ZF global R&D; Interface with manufacturing on product design; Execute resident engineering activities; attend customer meetings; Troubleshoot and determine cause of issues at customer site; Provide cost reduction recommendations; Participate and support in continuous improvement programs, support team efforts and corrective actions; and Ensure compliance with IATF16949. A full-time remote work schedule is available, reporting to company headquarters. Position requires up to 10% travel within the U.S. to ZF, dealership, and/or customer sites in order to, for example, attend trainings, provide product support, and troubleshoot unusual vehicle conditions.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field, plus 4 years of experience in engineering (or related) occupations in the automotive industry. In the alternative, we will accept a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field, plus 2 years of experience in engineering (or related) occupations in the automotive industry. Requires demonstrated experience with: Vehicle systems, including powertrain systems and their interactions with other vehicle subsystems; Differentiating issues or concerns arising from vehicle subsystem versus those arising from the transmission; Utilizing vehicle measurement tools and software, including ETAS INCA, to unlock cyber-secure vehicle busses, set up and configure measurement files for recording drive data, and for preliminary analysis of collected data; and Navigating SAP, configuring user profiles in SAP, and utilizing SAP transactions.
