Tyson Foods Maintenance Generalist in Newton, Mississippi

Work Shift:

1ST SHIFT (United States of America)

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.


This position could work in any department of the hatchery. Standing, walking, bending, stretching, twisting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and reaching are required in all areas. Lifting is required in many areas (weight depends upon area). Working on elevated surfaces is required in some areas. This position works in a dusty, cold, damp or hot and humid environment and these areas have slippery walking surfaces. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess basic math and computer skills. Must be able to use basic hand tools, operate power tools, saws, sheet metal shears, drills, grinders and ladders as needed. Must be able to obtain powered industrial truck certification (PIT).


Applicant must reside in a 50-mile radius of the facility. Hours of work are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Friday 3:45am to 12:45pm, and Wednesday 7am to 12pm. To be considered for this maintenance position, applicants must have at least 3 years industrial maintenance experience or the equivalent certifications from a technical school. Must have the ability to fabricate by welding and cutting. Must be able to read and write in order to follow Tyson preventive maintenance program. Must have the ability to pass pulmonary function test to dispense chemicals and comply with OSHA guidelines. Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild or exotic fowl to be considered.
