Your Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly driven individual to join our team as a Portfolio Development Associate with a primary focus on post-close value-add activities. In this role, you will be instrumental in nurturing relationships with portfolio companies, fostering collaborations with IBM and other large enterprises, and driving strategic business partnerships to create mutual value.

Responsibilities

  • Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships with portfolio company founders, their executive teams, and key IBM stakeholders to serve as a trusted advisor and resource for strategic guidance and support.

  • Business Development: Collaborate closely with IBM and other corporate entities to identify synergies, explore co-innovation opportunities, and facilitate those engagements for our portfolio companies.

  • Event Management: Design, plan, and execute sponsored events aimed at promoting the IBM Ventures fund and our portfolio companies. Additionally participate in industry events and conferences to offer unique opportunities for our founders.

  • Marketing and Press Relations: Develop and execute marketing strategies to raise the visibility of our portfolio companies and the IBM Ventures fund by working on press releases, organizing media interviews, and leveraging social media platforms.

  • Value Add: Design and implement value-add offerings to provide additional resources to our portfolio companies, such as access to preferred technology deals, mentorship opportunities, and industry-specific workshops.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3+ years of experience in business development, client management, corporate partnerships, marketing, or related roles

  • Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong understanding and interest in technology trends, market dynamics, and business models within startups.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to quickly learn and articulate complex concepts and influence decision-makers.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience working in the Venture Capital/Corporate Venture Capital industry or at a startup.

  • Experience designing, planning, and executing corporate events.

The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
