The Department of Human Services, Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services, Loysville Youth Development Center, is seeking a dedicated HVAC or Refrigeration Technician who takes pride in keeping buildings and grounds safe from hazards, comfortable for the residents, and practical for employees.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This is journey level work in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, units, equipment, and peripheral devices within the Youth Development Center/Youth Forestry Camp system. Work is performed under the guidelines of federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to refrigeration and/or HVAC operations and maintenance, and established trade practices.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Travel and overtime as needed Subject to emergency call-in Schedule and overtime may change based on operational need. Free parking! Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the HVAC and Building Automation Technician trainee program (commonwealth title); or Three years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, units, and equipment including one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls.

Special Requirements: All employees must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment. This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.

You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical exam. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
