Job Summary
The Rehabilitation and Health Sciences (RHB) PhD Program in the College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the University of Kentucky (UK) is currently accepting applications for a full-time 11-month appointment, tenure-eligible faculty member at a rank determined by qualifications in the Special Title Series to begin employment at the Lexington campus with a negotiable start date. Our well-established, nationally respected program is multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional and includes faculty and students from disciplines such as Athletic Training & Clinical Nutrition, Physician Assistant Studies, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Communication Sciences and Disorders, including Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology, as well as those with related - and interests, such as music therapy, massage therapy, and kinesiology/exercise physiology. Our faculty have research programs that span from the basic sciences to community engagement. The distribution of effort of this position will be approximately 55%-70% instruction, 15-35% scholarship/research, and 10-15% service.

1. Terminal academic doctoral degree (i.e., PhD or similar terminal degree) in a relevant field
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated excellence in teaching with potential for course management and design
2. Expertise in content related to any of the research areas in the RHB PhD Program
3. Record of scholarly work including original research with the potential for extramural funding
4. A history of interacting effectively with diverse people and communities

About the Rehabilitation and Health Sciences PhD Program
The RHB PhD program is designed to produce leaders in the rehabilitation and health sciences. Our goal is to prepare capable researchers and educators with the ability to advance knowledge through research and scholarship with broad understanding of the health sciences, expertise in their discipline and skills to fulfill leadership positions in academia or field of their choosing. The RHB PhD Program offers a unique multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional program which can be taken through distance learning. The qualified candidate will join the multi-disciplinary faculty who serve with distinction as many are recipients of national, regional and university awards for research, teaching, leadership, and service. Our faculty are funded at the state and national levels including NIH, DOD, VA, DOE, and HRSA awards and receive support through the Office of Research. Our diverse research portfolio places a high value on translational and interdisciplinary science. The College of Health Sciences is home to state-of-the-art research laboratories (wet & dry) and maintains strong collaborative ties with other colleges across campus. In addition, the College houses the Undergraduate Research Program including the University of Kentucky Undergraduate Research Certificate giving the opportunity to work with highly talented undergraduate researchers from within and outside the College.

The qualified candidate will have access to several significant resources including the College’s state-of-the-art teaching and clinical facilities and a newly approved Health Education Building (HEB). Clinical, Educational and Research resources available within the College and the University of Kentucky include among others: the Center for Muscle Biology, the Sports Medicine Research Institute, the Human Performance and Biomotion labs, the Center for Telehealth Education and Outreach (CTERO), the SoTL Faculty Learning Community, the UK’s Center for Clinical Translational Sciences (CCTS), the Kentucky Appalachian Rural Rehabilitation Network (KARRN), the Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center (SCoBIRC), the Rodent Behavioral Core, the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, Kentucky Neuroscience Institute, the Unite Research Priority Area, and our UK Human Development Institute.
