Diversified Laboratory Repair® (DLR) , a subsidiary of Trane Technologies, is looking for a Field Service Refrigeration Technician , in the Lewisville, TX area.

Job Summary:

This Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the performance of service, repair, installation, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on all types of laboratory equipment at the customer site, or in the repair shop, for the Life Science Solutions Diversified Laboratory Repair (DLR) team.

This Technician will have the ability to work with limited supervision and is expected to solve routine operational problems without guidance, referring unusual problems to other technicians or supervisor. The work is performed under the general direction of the Service Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Performance of service, installation, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on all types of laboratory equipment.

  • Technicians are expected to be able to test components, check for leaks, operate and read gauges, read wiring diagrams, diagnose electrical and mechanical defects, reclaim refrigerant and perform mechanical repairs.

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance.

  • Calibrate process controllers.

  • Diagnose and correct cooling issues.

  • Keep accurate and neat maintenance records, and other paperwork.

  • Work from engineering drawings for brazing and assembly of prototype refrigerated products.

  • Be able to explain/describe services provided.

  • Mark hours worked on each job accurately.

  • Be prepared with appropriate completed service tickets, additional blank service tickets, and ticket book.

  • Maintain an organized replacement parts inventory in service vehicle.

  • Willing to help with other teams as needed.

  • Normal working hours are 8:00 – 4:30; however, OT is occasionally required.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience servicing, troubleshooting and maintaining commercial Refrigeration equipment.

  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office and comfortable with hand-held devices (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)

  • A valid driver’s license, with no major or frequent traffic violations

  • Hands on knowledge of refrigeration and electronics.

  • Journeyman license preferred.

  • Universal EPA Certification.

  • Ultra-low refrigeration experience a plus.

  • Ability to interpret electrical and refrigeration schematics.Must have demonstrated electrical and control troubleshooting experience.

  • Strong analytic ability.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Willingness to participate in the emergency on-call rotation.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to include spelling and grammar, and the ability to interface professionally with customers.

  • DLR performs work at secure government facilities that require a background check prior to admission to their campus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt.

  • Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties.

  • Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction.

  • Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands.

  • Must be able to reach your hands over your head.

  • Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours.

  • This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs.

  • Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 350 lb. total weight limit, while carrying equipment of 50 lbs. or less.

  • Must be able to maneuver confined access areas, as small as 30” vertical x 45” horizontal.

  • Must be willing to work around hazards.

  • Must be willing to work both inside and outside.

  • Must be able to work with extreme temperatures.

For Hourly positions - $25-38/hour
