Motorcycle Rider Coach

Job Purpose: Through a combination of classroom and on the motorcycle range instruction, the Rider Coach will be responsible for teaching Motorcycle Safety Foundation Rider Education classes. Rider Coaches teach students how to operate bikes and instill safe riding practices. (Multiple positions)

Position Description:

  • Conduct classroom and on-the-range instruction consistent with the Kansas State Department of Education and Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) requirements and standards to prepare and properly instruct rider education students.
  • Create an environment that is conducive to serving students while meeting the requirements of federal, state, and local mandates.
  • Maintain impeccable safety standards.
  • Track all aspects of each student's rider education training and related communications and report information to the Department of Adult and Continuing Education and lead instructor.
  • Prepare equipment and report accidents, injuries, and damages to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform professional services requiring excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Complete required paperwork and keep all necessary records.
  • Ability to work during evenings and on weekends, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population.
  • High energy, self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships and establish credibility with all levels of employee in the organization.
  • Demonstrated understanding of MSF regulations.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage several projects with multiple deadlines simultaneously.

Position Qualifications and/or Education:

Minimum Qualifications and/or Education

  • Current Motorcycle Safety Foundation - Rider Coach - Certificate
  • Current and valid Motorcycle License
  • Current and valid Kansas Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications and/or Education

  • Previous teaching experience
  • GED or High School Diploma

Work Schedule: Friday 5:30 - 10:30 pm, Saturday and Sunday 7:30 am - 5:30 pm, 23 hours per week.Rider Education season runs mid-March to mid-November with a mandatory training at the beginning of March each year.Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
