This position is responsible to diagnose issues, adjust, repair, and perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment while complying with Department of Transportation rules and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.


Diagnose failures of vehicles and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary. Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles. Must be able to drive tractors with or without trailers into and out of the Truck Shop and on the grounds. Maintain and repair all fleet equipment. Fill out all necessary documents legibly. Communicate with drivers to diagnose malfunction. Clean up tools, parts and the truck shop including spills. Maintain compliance with OSHA, D.O.T and EPA regulations. Must have a valid driver's license. Must have own hand tools (sets of wrenches, sockets, pliers screw drivers). Must be able to read and understand service manuals. Must be able to repair heavy duty trucks (tractor-trailers, brakes, tires, engines for 18 wheelers). Must be able to repair forklifts. Other duties as assigned by supervisor


Must have 6 months verifiable mechanic experience or education. Must be able to work overtime as needed and to be on call when necessary. Must have own tools and a valid drivers license. If an applicant meets the minimum requirements for consideration, they may be contacted for an interview.
