The State of New Hampshire, Department of Corrections has a full-time vacancy for Building Maintenance Supervisor.

Summary:

To perform skilled maintenance and repair work on buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment at New Hampshire State Prison while observing and controlling residents and the work environment to ensure institutional safety and security, working in close and immediate contact with prisoners on a daily basis while maintaining security.

18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree

36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree

54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:High school diploma or high school equivalency credential and completion of an apprenticeship in one of the skilled trades.

Experience:Three years experience in general maintenance work, one year of which shall include supervisory experience. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

License/Certifications:Must Possess valid drivers license and Gas fitters license. Gas fitters license preferred or must obtain a gasfitters license within one year of employment.

Special Requirements:

  1. Successful completion of the Corrections Academy and continuing Certification as correctional line personnel as established by the certifying authority.

  2. Must be available for on-call through rotating schedule for off hours coverage to respond to emergencies and requests for timely assistance, in accordance with departmental policy.

  3. Must be willing to work an extended and/or flexible schedule, to include nights and weekends for emergency response to needs at the facilities. May be required to report for work with little notice due to emergencies.

Responsibilities:

Supervises peers, subordinates, and residents to ensure proper completion of work in a safe manner and reviews work for accuracy.

Performs work as a plumber with knowledge of sprinkler, boilers, HVAC, and welding to assure security, safety and health in a Correctional facility.

Performs skilled work in one of the building trades such as carpentry, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing or painting so that the buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles can be properly maintained.

Maintains records and documentation in Preventative Maintenance for equipment such as sprinklers, HVAC, boilers and maintains an inventory of repair stock for everyday use.

Trains and instructs residents in a specific trade in the Adult Vocational Training Program.

Provides security and safety to staff and resident workers who are assigned to the Maintenance Department.
