Work Schedule: 8 Hr (8:00:00 AM - 5:00:00 PM)

Summary:

The Revenue Integrity Charge Capture Manager, working in a hybrid/remote environment will lead the clinical charge capture team to promote accurate charging, modifier use and NCCI edits to support Rush’s revenue integrity initiatives. This leader promotes efficiency and the use of Epic automation and ancillary charge capture software solutions. The manager will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Leads the Revenue Integrity charge capture staff for hospital and professional charges and acts as a charge capture resource for the team’s work of connecting the Epic work queue edits, revenue codes, modifiers, CPT/HCPCS, and other codes, with clinical documentation, to ensure accurate charging

  2. Improve revenue results and compliance by ensuring the team’s has accurate work, optimizing the Epic automation functionality, charging regulations are applied, and the revenue integrity initiatives are carried out per the revenue cycle goals and KPI’s

  3. Strategically assign ownership of work queues and assure cross-training occurs to expand organizational goals and personal growth of staff members

  4. Build relationships within the revenue cycle, compliance, ancillary departments, and clinical areas of the organization that serve as mutually beneficial partnerships to ensure revenue cycle goals are achieved

  5. Keeps abreast of changing industry and regulatory requirements and communicates changes to impacted leaders and areas and provides training

  6. Identify and trouble-shoot charging, reimbursement, or clinical documentation issues, collaborate with ancillary departments and Epic build team to resolve, maintain a record of issues, and communicate solutions and improvements

  7. Engage clinical departments in revenue integrity, identify services performed in the clinical department for individual patients that need to be built in the CDM or be charged on a patient’s account based on CPT/HCPCS descriptions compared to clinical activities, orders, and documentation

  8. Identify chargeable supplies, implants, devices, and pharmaceutical codes and facilitate the automation of charge triggers

  9. Identifies trends and leads performance improvement efforts through multi-disciplinary teams to streamline processes, enhance charge capture, train staff, and promote accuracy

  10. Responsible for implementing short and long-term plans and objectives to ensure resolution of revenue integrity edits in Epic within set deadlines, ensure compliant charge capture practices, ensure claims timely filing, & reduce denials.

  11. Develop, update and implements job standards, job duties, job aids, departmental policies, and performance appraisals for all areas of responsibility. Engages in development and growth of self and the team

  12. Collect, interpret, and communicate performance data using various tools and systems, while also using this data to make decisions on how to achieve performance and budgetary goals

  13. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, staffing, performance management and development of charge capture staff. Counsels and disciplines employees, when necessary, in accordance with department and/or organizational policies.

  14. Prepares monthly analytics reports, dashboards information, and other statistics along with assisting in strategic planning

Required Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in health information technology, healthcare management, nursing, finance, or other related fields

• AHIMA or AAPC Certification (such as CCS, CCA, CPC, COC, CPMA, RHIT or RHIA)

• Five years of management experience in healthcare revenue cycle, accounting, or finance

• Five years of experience with hospital (HB) and professional (PB) Epic work queues, CPT/HCPCS codes, UB-04 Revenue Codes, Modifiers, NCCI edits, and compliant charging methodologies

• Experience with Epic reporting and dashboards

• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills

• Strong interpersonal skills necessary for the communication and training of Revenue Integrity concepts

• Ability to perform multiple tasks with excellent time management skills
