University of Virginia Director, Sterile Processing in Charlottesville, Virginia

The Director of Sterile Processing will be responsible for goal attainment, program improvement. and oversight for all Sterile Processing operations for University of Virginia Health System - Charlottesville and will be responsible for an estimated 2 Managers, 8 supervisors across 3 shifts providing continuous operations and service to the Medical Center 24 hours per day 7 days per week.

  • Provides effective leadership to work group; Manages recruitment performance and retention activities of assigned staff.

  • Develops and manages operational initiatives with measurable outcomes.

  • Prepares and delivers reports to operational leadership outlining progress toward meeting annual goals and objectives, to include performance related to finance, clinical activity, quality, safety, marketing, infection prevention and human resources.

  • Provides strong focus on continuing operations and service improvement as well continued coaching and development of supervisory staff.

  • A positive environment conducive to professional development of coworkers and subordinates is demonstrated on an ongoing basis including mentoring, teaching, orienting, role modeling and team participation.

  • Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements.

  • Ensures that quality measures are monitored and met within department.

  • Participates in performance improvement activities.

  • Assesses managers and staff development needs, identifies goals and provides resources.

  • Interprets impact of broad scope organizational change for staff and develops change strategies for successful implementation.

  • Establishes an annual operating and capital budget, demonstrating fiscal responsibility through meeting budget targets.

  • Continually assess all services, identifies problems, utilizes data to analyze and propose innovative approaches for solutions.

  • Remains current on new trends and best practices and incorporates into Sterile Processing practices and programs.

  • Annually reviews and update all policies related to Sterile Processing.

  • Creates a culture and systems for recognizing and rewarding staff.

  • Leads the efforts for the Managers to stay on top of the Ladder program to keep all staff members advancing when appropriate.

  • Ensure integration of ethical standards and core values into everyday work activities.

  • Detailed knowledge of Instrument tracking systems, Case cart processes within Sterile Processing

  • Will round on all sterile processing locations to ensure quality of operations and conduct staff feedback sessions along with their managers.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $120,473.60 - $192,753.60 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 5 years of Sterile Processing Management experience required.

Licensure: CRCST, CIS, CHL required. CER Certification required within one year of hiring or transfer.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
