Amazon Finance Manager, Amazon Flex in Bellevue, Washington

Amazon Flex is at the forefront of delivery operations, owning a significant piece of Amazon's "Last Mile" delivery strategy at current & into the future. The Flex model utilizes independent contractors to help fulfill "Ultrafast" customer deliveries including Amazon Grocery, Sub-same-day Amazon.com orders and beyond. Our Finance team works closely with Tech, Product & Program Managers to track performance reporting and support analysis for optimization of pricing, labor planning, and routing, which help improve customer quality and reduce costs.

With a rapidly expanding team & scope, we are looking for a Finance Manager who is a strategic thinker and creative problem solver to support this hyper-growth business as part of the NA Flex Ops Finance team. This role partners with business leadership to provide strategic guidance and analytical decision making support for evaluating and prioritizing projects or initiatives. This role will work closely with cross-functional business leaders across the Last Mile organization and internal Amazon businesses allowing for future opportunities to expand scope. This role requires a self-starter with strong business modeling skills, a keen attention to detail and good track record of influencing business partners. This role has regular interaction with senior leadership and stakeholders across Amazon and requires strong verbal and written communication skills. The candidate will need to be capable of operating with a high degree of autonomy, and hence needs to demonstrate a high degree of comfort with ambiguity besides holding a high bar on professional integrity.

Key job responsibilities

  • Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon. These decisions can have global impact.

  • Educate business partners on financial and non-financial trade-offs and provides guidance and financial analysis for new projects and initiatives. You make thoughtful judgement calls in ambiguous environments where data may be scarce or difficult to procure.

  • Identifies opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improves, scales, or simplifies finance tools across teams and organizations.

A day in the life

A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to innovate by building creative, socially responsible last mile logistics solutions through large-scale data driven decision making. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following abilities: they influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly-evolving environment. They collaborate with senior leaders and various business units across Amazon. You bring excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science)

  • 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA and/or Professional certification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or CPA)

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Advanced use of SQL (data mining and business intelligence)

  • Ability to prioritize workload and achieve effective results in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-growing and often ambiguous environment; effective multi-tasking skills are vital

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
