TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION E283 Camp;M Group Leader, IV or V - Bridge Division in Austin, Texas

Performs highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, bridge construction, bridge maintenance and research. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer IVCoordinates and/or monitors assigned projects/programs/plans.Develops and/or reviews engineering related documents, correspondence, reports and remediation plans.Develops short-term and long-term goals and coordinates planning activities and resources required to meet goals.Develops specifications for special bridge design details and projects.Drives/travels to project/work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support.Inspects structures for impact damage and/or construction problems and may design emergency shoring to prevent collapse of damaged structures.Leads/Trains professional and technical staff.Makes presentations and represents TxDOT.Performs and/or coordinates the review and processing of Plans, Specifications Estimates (PSE) submission, special specifications or special provisions.Performs highly advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Performs highly complex structural analysis of bridge designs.Performs inspections, structural evaluations and analyses of bridges and related structures that have appraisal and condition ratings or are recommended for closure.Performs structural review of complex forming, false work and erection details.Provides assistance and technical support to districts, divisions and the FHWA in matters concerning bridge maintenance.Recommends prioritization of bridge replacement, bridge rehabilitation and repair of damaged bridges.Reviews designs and detailed drawings of bridges and related structures prepared by other engineers and technicians.Reviews literature, technical data, material specifications and procedures.Reviews shop drawings prepared by fabricators for bridges and related structures.Reviews shop drawings, plans, specifications, estimates, supplemental agreements and change order requests.Trains engineering staff.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer V andndash; performs all of the above, plus:Develops and supports implementation activities for new methods, procedures, and technologies.
