Amazon is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) to join the Alexa Smart Home Finance team. Alexa Smart Home is responsible for providing customers with new devices, services, and features that are core to the Alexa experience, supporting customer engagement and acquisition. Alexa now works with over 145,000 compatible smart home products, and customers have connected more than 100 million smart home devices to Alexa while interacting with their smart home devices every couple milliseconds to control their connected homes to simplifying their daily routines. The core of Smart Home Finance is to build financial models for new and ambiguous business opportunities and to clearly articulate the mechanics, risks, opportunities, and tradeoffs to business partners. The role is responsible for end to end financial support for major investments across a diverse set of categories including new device hardware investments, software services, monetization initiatives, and cost controllership. The SFA will support dedicated verticals within the Alexa Smart Home business with the opportunity to work with experienced leaders and teams across the world.

The successful candidate will have shown experience in past roles influencing business partners and supporting decision making in rapidly evolving environments. The candidate incorporates data into their decision-making frameworks and has a strong desire to learn new models while enacting change across the business. The role requires a self-starter with the ability to be both strategic and analytical in their support of the business, with high expectations and room for growth.

Key job responsibilities

  • Create, improve and maintain financial models to promote efficient use of resources.

  • Perform financial reporting, ad-hoc project analysis and financial modeling for a variety of business initiatives and new business models.

  • Conduct comprehensive cost-benefit analysis; identifying and communicating key drivers to support investment decisions.

  • Support the core financial processes for the business, including: annual operating plan, three-year strategic plan, monthly and quarterly business reviews.

  • Educate business partners on financial and non-financial trade-offs, and support them to make judgement calls in ambiguous environments where data may be scarce or difficult to procure.

  • Communicate information/data in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Articulate financial story clearly by adjusting style for different audiences. Your clarity in communication will be instrumental in facilitating informed decisions.

  • Champion Smart Home Finance's application of next generation data capabilities to improve processes, analytics, and insights through tools such as Amazon Bedrock, Microsoft Co-Pilot, Chat GPT, and other similar services. This role will be expected to provide viewpoints and recommendations for applying these tools to processes and business functions.

  • Manage competing priorities, communicate status updates, and drive projects to completion.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)

  • Experience in financial modeling, P&L management or analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence

  • Experience with: Tableau, Cognos, and/or PowerBI

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $56,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
