Amazon Finance Manager, US Consumables Finance in Arlington, Virginia

US Consumables Finance team support the core Consumables category business (Health and Personal Care, Grocery, Beauty, Premium Beauty, Baby, and Pets) and various fast-growing and highly impactful programs (e.g., Everyday Essentials, Subscribe and Save, Amazon Access, Climate Pledge Friendly etc). We are looking for an analytical, self-driven, and innovative leader who is able to distill complex problems into solutions that drive business insights and finance process improvement.

The role leads the Finance support to two key workstreams of Everyday Essentials. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, Tech and Product leaders, and senior business partners in identifying, creating, and measuring innovative solutions to grow topline, improve profitability, and enhance customer shopping experience. You lead analysis, create metrics, and develop forecasts and insights that drive strategic business decisions. This is an exciting opportunity and strategic position to help re-imagine how Amazon sells low priced Everyday Essentials selections, one of Consumables’ biggest growth opportunities. While this role is within US Consumables Finance, several of our mechanisms and workstreams extend beyond US Consumables resulting in high impact, complex and visible projects.

The successful candidate in this role will have passion for innovation, show strong interest in the Technology and Product Management, be a self-starter, possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail and an ability to work in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. This role also has regular interaction with various business units across Amazon and requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive core financial processes including Annual Operating Plan, long range Strategic Plan, and Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews

  • Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon. These decisions can have global impact.

  • Create complex financial modeling and analysis to drive the growth of both revenue and profitability, deep dive on cost structures, and analyze business opportunities and return on investments

  • Educate business partners on financial and non-financial trade-offs. You make thoughtful judgement calls in ambiguous environments such as sizing the opportunities for new product launch.

  • Evaluate new and ambiguous business opportunities through financial modelling and sensitivity analytics. Identify the right metrics and create analysis to help prioritize key initiatives.

  • Design scalable solutions that automate the reporting of key performance metrics and analysis.

  • Create effective business partnerships, manages competing priorities, and provides guidance based on data analysis during unexpected events.

  • Influence business decisions with effective verbal and written communication, data driven analysis and modeling, and presentation of options and alternatives.

A day in the life

You’ll collaborate with business, technical and finance stakeholders both within and outside US Consumables. You will be managing periodic reporting and planning, deep diving into data and dissecting ambiguous problems. You’ll also help and collaborate with other global Consumables Finance teams to gain access to vital insights and drive scalable solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science) and 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFA, or CPA

  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL

  • Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
